What leaves your computer when you use Tacit, where it goes, and how to turn it off.

Tacit has no account and no ads, and it doesn't track what you do. Your files, what you type and what you open stay on your computer. A few things do need the internet, and this page lists all of them.

Reports when something breaks

Setup asks whether Tacit may send a report when an update fails or an app closes by itself. If you say yes, the report says what went wrong, the Tacit version and the computer model. It never includes your files, what you type or what you open. Reports go to the people who make Tacit and are used only to fix what broke. You can turn this off in Settings at any time.

Updates

Tacit checks for and downloads updates from Arch Linux's download servers and from Tacit's own. Like any download, those servers see your internet address and which packages your computer asks for.

Apps

The list of apps and what they do is stored on your computer, so searching it sends nothing. App screenshots are downloaded from each app maker's own website, which sees your internet address. Apps you get are downloaded from Arch Linux's download servers.

Thyris

Your agent

What you ask your agent in Praxis goes to the company that makes it (for Claude Code, Anthropic; for Codex, OpenAI), under that company's own terms and with your own account. Nothing goes anywhere until you use an agent.

Dictation

If you use dictation, what you say is sent to Google's Gemini to be turned into text. Nothing is sent when you don't use it.
